I'll combine that into one :-D. My group did it in 26:05. Here are my top-9 (edited from 10 =P) tips on how to do it. (we would have done it faster, but an ele kept dying and going AFK >.>)
- DO NOT Join a group with more than 2 assassins. That is already pushing it, and only attempt 3 if you know all of the people in the group and can work together well.
- DO make sure that your group's skillsets are not completely screwed up, and be very aware that some people may need more help than others. Make sure the more experienced groupies know what to do in case of "emergencies".
- DO NOT take anyone below level 17. They often become a deadweight when they don't have their henchie groups tanking for them, and in a balanced group when you don't know who will be on the other side to help you, someone with imperfect attribute points and armor may be more of a hindrance than a help. This is just a reccomendation.
- DO KILL EVERYTHING. Many glitches occur when certain mobs are not killed that need to be. If you skip killing monsters that are supposed to trigger cinematics or mission objective updates, you're screwed. Make sure you do this as quickly as possible, however, for the best optimal time (and rank, master, expert, etc.) on the mission.
- DO NOT Keep anyone who you think would be a problem in your group STAY in your group. Even if you don't like having to tell people no or kick people, it's vital to keep the good players and keep out the things that would make them leave. Co-operation and good relationships are essential.
- DO Make sure that everyone knows their role and how to keep the mission clean. If one person glitches, that's enough to take down the possible 15 others who are hoping for a good rank.
- DO NOT ragequit if you die once or twice. It doesn't mean that the sky is falling. You can still win.
- DO HAVE FUN. You tend to perform better if you're ENJOYING blowing up diseased chunks of evil flesh :-D.
- DO NOT Drop Steal. It offends others and can possibly cause people to quit. If you want something, ask the person if they will pick it up and give it to you. If they don't want to, just hope you'll get lucky. Someone in my PUG gave me a gold hornbow just because I asked :-D.
Just follow these and you should get along FINE! No need to quit the game or anything because of this. All you have to do is have a positive attitude about it. Happy hunting.
BTW- I know this is only 9/10 >.> But I couldn't think of any more essential rules.

So you're saying that you accept incomplete/buggy software? In fact you're really admitting that it's okay for a company to ship a less-than-complete product to you. Would you feel the same way about other products? What if the software on your cellphone didn't work? Or what if you bought a DVD player that had a crappy UI and buggy on-screen menus? Most people wouldn't accept it. So it's okay for the OP and others here to post their irritation with missions that are bugged. Besides, ANet should have gotten better the second time around and not repeated some of the same mistakes they made in Prophecies.
That said, ANet has been good about bug fixing and that's important. At least it shows they're concerned about their customers.

It might not be such a problem if both teams are 1 RL+7 hench since you only have 1 RL pulling their henches away, but we had 8 RL players our side and many many times, we pulled the other team's henches towards us and basically Togo dies. Its an easy mission after that minor glitch is passed.
|
I have seen this too hun and it happened with us, and somehow Togo avoided agro because he didn't have agroing henchies around him. They all bunch up into that little corner trying to get to your team. Seen it hun and I have seen Togo live through it.
I wish I could tell you that there was an easier way, but I don't know of one.

It's a pretty easy mission. I did it with my Restoration Rt/A and a team full of henchmen (my Tyria team was also 7 henchmen and a W/Mo).

they get stuck because the other team runs to you. they cannot run to you, they must fight to you or Togo will glitch and get stuck. no one can run to you, not even one person.
anyway...its stupid, in the local quarters all you have are rits and assassins...poor thinking on ANet's part imo.

I have done this mission 6 times without problem...on various days since the first. I fail to see what everyone is complaining about.

After my Tyrian warrior got into a group and failed five times before reaching Togo due to the Canthan side being level 16 A/Rts with henchies, we finally landed a good local team and rolled through in 23:39. MMs ftw.
Both of my monks finished in roughly 27:30. It's not a hard mission provided at least one team is competent.

Actually I think if you don't report small glitches like this, you are being irresponcible. Like many people say, its not a hard mission, the reasons for many people failing isn't due to bad play, but rather small glitches.
Balance changes etc... perfectly acceptable.
Bugs and errors, you need to let them know.

I rarely hear about a programmer being proud of their programming mistakes...but rather than flaming and rubbing the mistakes in by telling them they should be ashamed of their work, you can help the problem by staying patient. It's not as easy as a click of several keys to fix bugs. I'll take my words back and apologize if you program a game mechanism similar to this, bug-free.
As we have seen from ANet's past services, they're probably doing their best to fix the bugs and improve our gameplay.
I had problems with this bug the first two times as well. I don't think skipping the cinematic made a difference because both skipping and not skipping had the bug going on.

That depends on what you call a bug.
I played three times and beat it three times with groups full of everything you say not to have.
*shrugs*
Comparing apples to oranges btw dosn't prove your point. DVD players are static hardware sets that do not change, while Im sure there is a valid argument in there the fact is software and DVD players are 2 totally different pictures.
The software world has to deal with varying hardware configurations, varying brands, varying oem specs, varying Platform versions, varying Program loads and hardware capabilities. Things that manufactured items like a DVD player will never contend with esp. the set top world. You won't be pulling out the mpeg decoder to switch it out with the next best piece of hardware on your dvd player, nor would you probably constantly update the platform software versions.

Barrage works well too. I've been kind of pimping this idea of mine but barrage+splinter weapon+vampiric bow+Orders=massive damage spike that can take entire groups of afflicted in one volley. It's amusing to see all the little yellow damage numbers fill the screen up as the display engine runs out of places to put them above the heads of the enemies. LoL. Even without Orders in the party just the vampiric bow with splinter weapon and barrage puts a massive hurting on the enemy life bars before they really even get a chance to get at you. Trapping works like a champ too but then you have the problem of Togo running off and getting himself killed unless you want to have a designated Togo sitter. Overall I'm finding that Rangers can pretty much own factions PvE with little or no live backup.

Well I've done this on 4 characters. First time was the hardest because I didn't know there was a local team supposed to defend Togo etc.
Once you get the hang of it, the mission isn't hard.
I've done it on 3 tyrians(warrior, ranger and elementalist) and 1 canthan(assassin).
Things you might like to try so it doesn't bug out. Don't run to Togo. Make sure you kill all the guys who pop up on the way to Togo.

I love the mission.
My first time, I died 8 times. My warrior didn't have the latest armor and kept getting slapped by afflicted explosions. But now that he's lvl20 and has max Kurzick armor, this mission is a blast :P.
